Should Gay Marriages Be Legalized Essay Example for Free

Should Gay Marriages Be Legalized EssayWith the world going through a state of change, the social club across all countries sustain begun to change their mindset. We have witnessed the different kinds of changes through new inventions and ideologies some for the better and others for the worse. Today, courageous wedding also known as a union of the corresponding biological sex, is one of the most controversial ideas presented. In this essay, the topic nearly legalizing amusing spousalss will be discussed such as how gay marriages ar a negative repercussion to the society by defining marriage in the eyes of the law and addressing concerns about the legalization of gay marriage. There will also be an argument of why gay marriages should be legalized by redefining marriage from an unbiased point of view and providing supporting evidences that gay marriage is of no difference from same-sex marriage. First of all, what is marriage? The law has defined marriage as the formal u nion of a man and a cleaning woman by which they become husband and wife. Many believe that legalizing gay marriage would weaken the definition and respect for the institution of marriage.According to the U. S.Census Bureau, the divorce enjoin of first marriage is around 50 percent second marriages are at 60 to 67 percent and third marriages are at 73 to 74 percent. (Gini, 2012) With divorce rates higher than they have ever been, critics argue that allowing homosexuals to marry would only contribute to an ever-crumbling institution. Thus, it is believed that legalizing gay marriage would increase the number of caper or non-serious marriages. Secondly, it is believed that legalizing gay marriage would affect every nations future as it leads to a lower birth rates and psychology disorders. The traditional family which consists of a man, a woman, and a child has always been the building block of every society. By legalizing gay marriage, research has shown that same-sex marriage wou ld eliminate the incentive for procreation that is implicit in defining marriage as a male-female union as there is definite evidence of at least a correlation between same-sex marriage and low birth and fertility rates, both in the U. S. and abroad. (Sprigg, n. d. Apart from that, it is believed that gay marriage would also result in more children being raised in same-sex households which are not an optimum environment because both a Mother and a Father are essential figures for any childs upbringing. Studies have shown that girls who are raised apart from their fathers are reportedly at higher risk for early sexual activity and teenage pregnancy. (Ellis, 2003)Children without a mother are deprived of the emotional security and unique advice that mothers furnish. (Stacey Bublarz, 2001) If children were exposed to an alternative lifestyle since birth, they are more likely to experiment and date people of the same gender. This could be a vicious cycle of the human beings that our world will not be able to afford. Thirdly, there is an infringement of gay rights on religious self-direction since homosexuality is considered sinful by most religions. According to a statement from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and approved by Pope John capital of Minnesota II, marriage was established by the Creator with its own nature, essential properties and purpose. No ideology can erase from the human spirit the certainty that marriage exists alone between a man and a woman. (Ratzinger, 2003) This has proven that legalizing gay marriage would be incompatible with the beliefs and traditions of many religions. Thus, by demanding the majority of the religious population to adopt a relationship which is against their religion, it is not only deemed as offensive but also, morally and ethically corrupted. With all the cons mentioned above, I am sure one would be swayed to oppose to the idea of legalization of gay marriage. Having that said, I believe gay marria ge can also be perceived from a different igniter such that one would think twice before opposing and even learn to accept the legalization of gay marriage. First of all, I would like to re-define marriage from an unbiased point of view Marriage is a celebration of the unconditional, life-long commitment between cardinal somebodys. For better or for worse, they are always ready to plow all of life, to be intimate, to cherish and engage in the fullest of communication, the deepest of understanding, and the strongest of mortalal loyalty and trust. Since marriage only involves two individuals who are deeply in love, should it matter that the couple is of the same sex? Should it matter that the couple does not fit into what the society used to be? Should it matter since this form of marriage isnt hurting the society or anyone at all? If the answers to my questions have been a consistent no, then why should we stop the legalization of gay marriage?Since young, most people have been taught to cherish freedom, make headway differences and never discriminate against other races, then why cant we stop discriminating homosexuals too and accept them for whom they are by legalizing gay marriage? populate have to understand that homosexuals are humans too and we are all egestn the same equal rights. As Hilary Clinton have stated, gays and lesbians are our colleagues, our teachers, our soldiers, our friends, our loved ones and they are full and equal citizens and deserve the rights of citizenship that includes marriage. (Clinton, 2013)No doubt that it is difficult for discriminations to be omitted in any society in the world but no establishment should be the one discriminating. As such, by legalizing gay marriage, it will be killing two birds with one stone since it allows both the government to set a good role model for its people and also, the homosexuals to have their very own freedom to love and to make their own decisions. Secondly, marriage does not only s eethe around pro-creation. If marriage is only about reproduction, does it mean that infertile couples would not be allowed to marry too?Since the ability or desire to create take has never been a criterion for marriage, why should we allow pro-creation to obstruct the love of two individuals? George Washington, often referred to as the Father of Our Country, did not have children with his wife Martha Custis, and uncomplete did four other married US presidents. (Talbot, 2010) Since marriages between a man and a woman do not necessarily end in proceeds due to physical problems or personal choice, we should not hold on to the concept of procreation as essential to the marriage bond.Hence, pro-creation should never be a reason why we should not legalize gay marriage. Additionally, gay marriage will make it easier for people to adopt children. However, people worries over issues such as confusion amongst children about gender roles and expectations of society which would consequentl y lead to psychological disorders and increase in social problems if gay marriage had been legalized. They are worried about how schools are going to teach their children the difference between same-sex marriage and opposite-sex marriage. In my opinion, there is no difference and instead, children should always be taught how to embrace all kinds of love since love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things, as preached in the bible. Studies have also found that children of gay fathers were as well-adjusted as those select by heterosexual parents, (Gatrell Bos, 2010) and children of lesbian mothers were rated higher than children of heterosexual parents in social and academic competence and had fewer social problems. (Farr et al. , 2010) This has shown that, on the contrary, gay marriage would provide an environment that is just as good or even more conducive for children. As such, this unduly worries of legalization of gay marriage are sincerely yo urs redundant. Lastly, despite the fact that gay marriage is considered sinful by most religions, there has been an increase of religious organizations voicing their support for marriage equality.Parrella (2004a) mentioned Marriage offers us the ideal human setting for us to surrender our own self-importance and discover, through intimacy with another, the real heart and center of the universe in idolwhether one uses the word God or not. This unconditional giving of ones self is at the core of a sacramental marriage in the Catholic tradition. . This has shown that it sash true even if a person is a homosexual as this sacramental understanding of marriage can also be applied to two individuals of the same gender. Moreover, a gay or lesbian orientation is not up to ones choice or decision but it is simply the way an individual is. Since all that matters to God is what is in the hearts and souls that God has given to us and that we seek to give to one another (Parrella, 2004b), it is only fair for us to give homosexuals their freedom to express themselves by legalizing gay marriages. In conclusion, although the legalization of gay marriages will lead to negative impacts on the society, it does not justify denying a person his equal rights just based on his/her sexual orientation. Moreover, recent statistics have shown that support for the legalization of gay marriages has risen dramatically in the past hug drug as younger generation with more accepting views are replacing older generation in the population. This can be seen by using information from 98 national surveys conducted between 2004 and 2011, 75% of the growth has come from people changing their minds. (Lewis Hatalsky, 2013). Ultimately, marriage is the celebration of lifelong commitment between two individuals, disregardless of gender. Hence, gay marriages should be legalized.

The attacks forced the air tilt industry to renew and strengthen their tension on security. Many airports in the U.S. take a shit introduced ethnic profiling since September 11, 2001 and the evidence shows this method has helped improve airport security. The suspects who have since 9/11/01 been picked up are at least mostly Arabs (Gale Airport Security. Opposing Viewpoints Online Collection). Security checks are not intended to embarrass or harm anybody they are a necessary precaution to protect all passengers including Muslims. Not only do es the TSA keep an eye on airline security around the globe, but also they have many unalike layers of security in our nations airports. The newest and most controversially is the full body scanner. These x-ray machines strip a person belt down to their birthday suit. Airport screeners are now federal employees. People are now having to wait longer to be able to pass thru security line to check in. many travelers get pulled aside for full body searches. Today forty five thousand employees are working as passengers screeners in more than four hundred airports around the country. Our top priority is the safety of the traveling public, and TSA constantly strives to explore and implement new technologies that enhance security and strengthen privacy protections for the traveling public. (TSA Takes Next Steps to Further Enhance Passenger Privacy.)Though airport secur ity was enforced, there was another incident. On Christmas December 25,2009, a twenty-three year old Nigerian named Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab attempted to detonate explosives aboard a Northwest Airlines flight traveling from Amsterdam to Detroit, Michigan. Abdulmutallab had orphic plastic explosives in his underwear, which had gone undetected during the passenger screening process. Abdulmutallab had also been identified as having connection to the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda less than two months forwards the attempted bombing, and his own father had contacted the American embassy in Nigeria to warn them of his sons extremist beliefs. The only reason the bombingFailed was because abdulmutallab did not properly part the device, and other passengers aboard the plane subdued him. Two weeks after that incident Obama administration mandated extra scrutiny- including full body pat downs- for people flying into the get together States from 14 mostly Muslim countries. Under the new ru les, all citizens of Afghanistan, Algeria, Lebanon, Libya, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia and Yemen must receive a pat down and an extra check of their carry-on bags before boarding a plane bound for the united states, officials said. Citizens of Cuba, Iran, Sudan and Syria- nations considered state sponsors of terrorism (Airport Security January 6,2010).Airlines are still responsible for checking passenger information against government-issued maintain lists intended to flag potentially dangerous travelers. Two of the lists are often referred to as the No-Fly (Airport Security January 6,2010) list, are the Terrorist Watch List, (Airport Security January 6,2010) and travelers appearing on these lists are subject to more detailed search or in the case of the No Fly list, are denied the ability to travel. We should notify that the airport security is making our trip safe and secure. Any inconvenience people feel is unimportant compared with saving lives by preventing terrorist attacks.

The Study Of Motivation In Sport Physical Education Essay

The Study Of Motivation In Sport Physical Education EssayThis reviewed question is on indigence in sport. A variety of definitions and approaches to the find out need will be discussed. One of the forms of motivating being discussed will be integral and external motivation. Intrinsic motivations are very important for promoting ecstasy and long term participation in sport. There are three theoretical approaches to the matter of intrinsic motivation behavioral, cognitive, and motivational. Researchers have found that the intrinsic motivation of athletes seems extremely important for long-term involve work forcet, and fine-tuned performance in sport. Extrinsic motivation refers to motivation that comes from outside an soulfulness. The motivating factors are outer, or outside, rewards such as gold or grades. These rewards provide satisfaction and pleasure that the task itself may not provide. Another form of motivation has to do with sex activity. Researches have determi ned that there are motivational differences among male and female sports. Its also been determined that male and female athletes possess different strengths and weaknesses within the motivational climate. Some detailed differences stated were that men had higher levels of motivation in competition, social acknowledgment, strength and endurance, where women had stronger motivation to control slant. The last factor I will cover is cultural effectuate on motivation.Introduction to your Research TopicDeci, et al. (1999) state that intrinsic motivation female genitalia also be enhanced by increasing an individuals perceptions of autonomy and competence. Deci, et al. (1999) also showed that research supported the idea that extrinsic motivations impact on intrinsic motivation was influenced by the controlling nature of those extrinsic rewards. For instance, positive feedback that is not considered controlling would promising add to an individuals perceived competence and have a positiv e effect on their intrinsic motivation. V totallyerand (2000) looks at motivation in a multidimensional port that encompasses more than the dichotomy of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. He states that motivation for both is on a continuum that ranges from a high to lowlevel of determination and that operates on three distinct levels global (ones overall general motivation), contextual (in a specific domain or field such as education or sports), and situational (the here and now). At each of these levels individuals can have different motivation levels (both intrinsic and extrinsic). For example, one could be highly intrinsically motivated to participate in sports, but less intrinsically motivated regarding education (contextual). However, if a person is feeling ill or tired, they may not have the same intrinsic motivation to participate in sports activities that day (situational). Extrinsic rewards could be applied to both and impact situational motivation in both the short and long term. For example, that individual might be highly motivated to do well on a test and receive a good grade (extrinsic motivation) so that they can be eligible to play on their sports team (intrinsic motivation). Vallerand (2000) postulates that repeated levels of low levels of situational intrinsic motivation will likely have a diminishingeffect on the larger contextual intrinsic motivation. He highlights research done on motivation to play basketball where intrinsic motivational levels were affected by situational motivational levels during tournament games. This research has many implications for organizations and educational situations. firearm understanding that extrinsic motivation is one of the main drivers of the business world, compensation and other bonus packages need to address their impact on intrinsic motivation and be developed in ways that will reduce the adverse affects or perchance even add to the intrinsic motivational levels. More research on real life sit uations would be beneficial. Background of the Research TopicMotivation in sports and knead has been studied over the last century but only in recent decades has motivation by gender been analyzed. studies in the area of motivation by gender in these sports and exercise fields individual and team sports and exercise, martial arts, basketball, volleyball, track and field, and general sports participation and exercise (Kilpatrick, Hebert, Bartholomew, 2005). These resolutenesss were the most consistent passim the reports with other similarities and differences noted with each study.Intrinsic and extrinsic motivation are both adaptable and change in response to specific situations and life occurrences. While not easy to define, intrinsic motivation can be described as an internal drive to perform an activity. While extrinsic motivation is ascribed to an external motivating source that drives action. It is postulated that people attribute their behavior either to an internal or exter nal source. Intrinsic motivation correlates positively to when people attributetheir motivation to internal sources, while extrinsic motivation is correlated to belief in an external source for their behavior (Wiersma, U. J., 1992). Extrinsic motivation, by definition, is changeable since it is an external motivator one can change the reward or external source (i.e. amount of money offered to do a job, feedback on performance, etc.). Meta-analysis of intrinsic and extrinsic motivational research by Deci, Koestner and Ryan (1999) found that intrinsicmotivation is negatively affected when tangible extrinsic motivation is attached to the behavior. This undermining of intrinsic motivation is postulated to be the moment of a perceived decrease in autonomy and competency by the individual receiving the extrinsic reward. Self-determination Theory states that humans have three inherent needs autonomy, competence, and relatedness. Of these, autonomy and competence are the main drivers of i ntrinsic motivation (Franken, 2002). Thus we see that intrinsic motivation can be changed by adding an extrinsic motivating component.Motivation is a crucial factor within the sport and exercise field. Understanding what and how motivation works is equally important. Based on these reviews gender also plays a role within the motivational climate. Studies have revealed variations in motivational factors within each gender. In Chie-der, Chen, Hung-yu, and Li-Kangs journal 87 male and 87 female basketball players from the HBL were selected for the research. Four research questionnaires were used to measure four phenomena participants goal orientation, the motivational climate they perceived, perceived ad hominem athletic ability, perceived personal sport-related confidence (Chie-der, Chen, Hung-yu, Li-Kang,2003). Using a t test gender differences were detected. Males tended to record higher scores than females for sports related confidence variables. Males scored higher within ego ori entation, perceived ability, and in animal(prenominal) performance. Females tended to score higher in task orientation, perceived task climate, and leadership styles (Chie-der, Chen, Hung-yu, Li-Kang,2003).Numerous studies have examined the question of whether there are differences in youth motives across sports, age, gender, and culture and suggest that children or adolescents are subject to the environmental influences in their motivation to participate in certain physical activities. Thus, analyse the diversities in motivation of participation may shed light on the underlying reasons of why children or adolescents take part in various forms of physical activity or sports.Impact on sportsGenderIn Kilpatrick, Hebert, Bartholomews study 233 students were studied, 132 women, 101 men. The purpose behind this study was to compare sports participation and exercise motivation through a highly differentiated scale of physical activity. The second objective was to investigate the impact of gender on motivation. This study determined that men were more highly motivated indeed women when it came to endurance and strength, social recognition, challenge, and most notably competition, where women were more motivated by weight management (Kilpatrick, Hebert, Bartholomew, 2005). It was further suggested in this analysis that motivations to engage in sports differed from motivators to engage in exercise. It was also noted that more of the health related motives were linked to exercise opposed to sports participation olibanum indicating that sports participation are more closely related to intrinsic motives. It was suggested that based on these findings that men leaned more closely to intrinsic motivation then women. This study further implied that men viewed exercise and fitness opportunities as a means to achieve ego related goals that support their sports participation where as women seemed to enjoy exercise and sports participation equally (Kilpatrick, Hebert, Barthol omew, 2005).In Murcia, Gimeno, and Colls study 413 athletes completed a perceived motivational climate in sports questionnaire. The sample was comprised of 322 boys and 91 girls, sports included individual and team sports. This analysis used the MANOVA to analyze the effects of gender, goal orientations, and perception of motivational climate and its flow. The findings showed that males had a stronger ego orientation that more specifically involved penalisation for errors then did females. Females were more inclined to identify a motivational climate orientated towards learning (Murcia, Gimeno, and Coll,2008).In Jones, Mackay, and Peters journal 17,463 participants participated in a questionnaire. This analysis differed from the others in this review. It noted no significant gender differences, it also noted that the four most important motivations for both male and females were affiliation, fitness, skill development, and friendship, this opposed to the three least(prenominal) in fluential motivators which were reward/status, situational, and competition. It also noted that the individuals studied in martial arts were immersed in a holistic approach of the martial art which pose increased value on the underlying philosophy. They further noted that the style of the instructor encompassing teaching/communication style and technical ability is of preponderating importance for enhancing student motivation to participate (Jones, Mackay, and Peters, 2006). It is implicated within this research that the similarity in gender motivation may be a result of the philosophies of the teachings.Culturalcultural differences in psychological meanings for sport have been documented by empirical research. Research in cross-cultural sport psychology, for example, has found convocation differences in how athletes prioritize achievement motives, team affiliation, and social recognition (e.g., Kolt et.al. 1999 Rees, Brettschneider, Brandl-Bredenbeck, 1998 Weinberg et.al., 2000 ). Similarly, a large literature about sport, globalization, and cultural imperialism describes how sport associates with distinct mentalities within peculiar(a) historical and national contexts (e.g., Guttmann, 1994 MacAloon, 1996 Maguire, 1999 Miller, Lawrence, McKay, Rowe, 2001).findings of previous researchGenderIn Gillson, Standage, and Skevingtons journal which studied 300 male and 280 female students in their motivation towards exercise. Motivation towards exercise was measured using the behavioral regulation and exercise questionnaire-2. The statistics were calculated separately for males and females, then gender differences were explored using t-tests and x2 tests. Similar to other results in this review weight seemed to be a greater motivation within girls than boys however girls in general were less motivated to exercise then boys. The most common motivation factor for boys were fitness and health and for girls body tone, health, and attractiveness. In this study just l ike the study of Kilpatrick, Hebert, Bartholomew, 2005 it was determined that girls were reported to exercise more for extrinsic goals then boys, more specifically when it came to weight control (Gillson, Standage, and Skevington, 2006).CulturalThis study derived from participant-observation with the two mens soccer teams, one sponsored by a private Midwestern university in the unify States (referred to as UA) and one associated with a government-sponsored university in Malawi in sub-Saharan Africa (referred to as UM). Because the teams were similar in regards to the relative educational and class status of their members, the two groups wide-ranging most clearly by cultural context. Qualitative data was obtained from interviews and observations gathered during two years with the UA team and a year with the UM team. The specific procedures are discussed to a lower place after providing necessary context by discussing the participants and settings. Conclusions sectionIt is concluded that it is important for coaches, teachers and parents to stress to young athletes the need to improve skills, teamwork and sportsmanship over the win at all costs attitude.terms/conceptsKey words self-determination,goal orientations, motivational climate, perceived competenceReferences pageJAM Murcia,(2008) Relationships among Goal Orientations, Motivational Climate and Flow in Adolescent Athletes Difference by Gender,The Spanish Journal of Psychology, majority 11, number 1, 181-191.Kilpatrick, Hebert, and Bartholomew, (2005) College Students Motivation for Physical Activity Differentiating Mens and Womens Motives for Sport Participation and Exercise, Journal of American College Health, volume 54, number2Gareth W. Thalassemia Disease Hemoglobin

thalassemia Disease HemoglobinThalassemiaWhat is Thalassemia and what does it do? Thalassemia is a disease first discovered by Dr. Thomas B. Cooley in 1925. Its an inherited genetic disorder that causes our bodies to produce fewer healthy red blood cells and hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is a substance in red blood cells that carries group O all through and throughout our bodies. It excessively carries devil chains called alpha globin chains and beta globin chains. Alpha globin chains are make with four genes. Alpha Thalassemia happens when two to four of those genes are missing. It can cause serious damage. Beta Globin chains are made with two genes and when one of the genes are also missing or changed, Beta Thalassemia occurs. Red blood cells will not perform properly when these chains are missing or altered. When red blood cells cant perform tasks and work, they die and your body doesnt function correctly, leading to serious consequences.Thalassemia can be diagnosed by taking blood tests, special hemoglobin tests,or having a complete blood count, otherwise known as CBC. CBC tests are used to will information about the amount of hemoglobin and the different kinds of blood cells in a sample. Hemoglobin tests are used to measure the types of hemoglobin in a sample. It is usually diagnosed in early childhood due to the fact that signs and symptoms of this disease appear in the first two years of a humans life. Doctors also do tests on the amount of iron in the blood to find out if the Thalassemia occurred because of iron deficiency. Since Thalassemia is an inherited disorder, a simple musical mode to diagnose it would be to conduct family genetic studies. This helpsby looking at the history of family traits, similarto a pedigree. There are ways to tell if a person has Thalassemia.Symptoms can include slowed growth and delayed puberty in children and teens. Bone problems can make the bones become wider than normal because of expanding bone marrow, more than(pren ominal) fragile, and easy to break. These bone problems occur mainly in the face. More signs of Thalassemia can be an enlarged spleen. passel with Thalassemia deal hard-working spleens. In approximately cases when a spleen becomes too large, it must be removed. The heart and liver might grow bigger as well. Some peoples appearance becomes pale and listless. They retreat their appetites, have dark urine, and get jaundice as a result of Thalassemia. Fake Love In The Truman Show :: essays research papers

Truman PaperThe term fake love in itself does non make that much sense. How can someone conduct love, which is feeling that provides unconditional caring and commitment, and then call it fake. The only real way to have fake love for someone is to not love at all, but just to think you love. In the movie The Truman Show there are many individuals whom exhibit an illusion of love for the main character, Truman. At the offset printing of the movie many of the characters appear to have genuine love for Truman. However, as the movie progresses almost all of the people whom are close to Truman, show in one way or another how they only think they love him. The topper examples of these types of characters are his wife, his best friend, and his creator. His own wife, someone whom should be completely flock and truthful with him lies to him on a daily basis. Her fake love is most clear when she crosses that line between actress and a real person. When she is acting she is trying her best to portray a woman whom truly loves him, but after seeing her act for so long even Truman can see her real nature underneath. He spots a person whom in real life cannot even stand him, but she puts a vale on to cover that. She belike really would like to love him but she cannot change the person she is any more than Truman can. Trumans best friend has the same fake love traits as his wife. Even though they were friends from children they always had a secret between them. He had the illusion of loving Truman probably just because he had known him so long. Though, at once youve lied to a person over and over the love is gone. He lied so many times that by the end of the film it could be seen that even at Trumans worst moment he could lie to him to keep his job and the show going on. Trumans wife and friend were not the only people in his life that had an illusion of love for him. Every one that he came in contact with in his own little urban center had a sort of fake love for him. He was the reason that they were employed and the reason that the show went on.
